Classic Basil Pesto with Organic PGI Lakonia Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Ingredients

  • 50 g fresh basil leaves
  • 30 g pine nuts (lightly toasted)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 60 g grated Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino cheese
  • 90 ml Organic PGI Lakonia extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • (Optional) 1 tsp lemon juice, for brightness

Preparation Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine basil leaves, pine nuts, and garlic. Pulse until finely chopped.
  2. Add cheese and continue pulsing to blend evenly.
  3. With the motor running, slowly drizzle in the Organic PGI Lakonia extra virgin olive oil until a smooth yet textured paste forms.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice if desired.

Finish & Serve: Transfer to a jar, cover with a thin layer of olive oil, and refrigerate until use.
Serve over pasta, grilled vegetables, or toasted bread.
Pairing (optional): Perfect with a glass of Organic PGI Korinthos white wine or a chilled rosé.
